The story goes that he took the berries to a revered Muslim man in a monastery. The old man immediately disapproved of their use and threw them into the fire. But at that moment they were captivated by an intoxicating balm that prompted the sage to dip his hands into the embers and extract the roasted berries.
It is said that he threw them into hot water with salt and thus the first cup of coffee in the world was made».
