Wineries and Vermuterias in Barcelona

Gastronomy 21/10/2022

Vermouth is a Sunday classic, for those who do not know this custom, “making vermouth” is synonymous with having an aperitif, that is, it consists of snacking on some simple tapas, such as mussels, bravas, Russian salad, anchovies, anchovies... before eating and accompany it with a classic glass of very cool “vermouth”.

The word “vermouth” has German origin and its meaning is “wormwood.” It is a wine-based liquor flavored with spices and different plants, it has an intense and sweet flavor. To give you an idea, do you know the famous Martini? Well, it's vermouth.

Of course, there are those who prefer to change the vermouth for a beer, a soft drink or a glass of wine, depending on tastes, colors... but the custom remains the same: make an aperitif before the meal.

Nowadays, vermouth has become fashionable again and we can find places where you can drink the most sophisticated one, but there are also traditional wineries with a more classic style where you can drink the typical vermouth. Today we want to show you our varied selection of the best wineries and vermuterias in the city, so that you can also enjoy this very typical custom during your visit to the city:

V de Vermut

Carrer de Manso 1, location 2

We could classify this vermouth-cocktail bar among the most sophisticated. It is not the classic winery where you can have a simple aperitif, this one exalts the concept of classic vermouth, offering a more refined approach with delicious tapas to pair with vermouths and also with cocktails.

Morro fi

Carrer de Consell de Cent, 171

Morro fi, with 4 locations spread throughout the city, has become a city classic. Their establishments have a modern feel unlike the typical wineries, but they are also an ideal place to enjoy a good aperitif. As its name indicates, if you are a “Morro Fino” type, this vermouth shop is perfect for you.

Furthermore, if you fall in love with their vermouth and appetizers, they market their products themselves, so you can buy them in their physical store on l'Illa Diagonal. This way you can also “make vermouth” at home.

Lord vermouth

Carrer de Provença, 85

It is a neighborhood place, rather small, but with 40 varieties of vermouth and incredible tapas and appetizers. It has become an institution of vermouth and good gastronomy. They have their own vermouth and, in addition, their patatas bravas are considered one of the best in Barcelona... What more could you ask for?

Collonut

Carrer d'Olesa, 7

El Collonut, “cojonudo” in Spanish, is a more modern and very well decorated establishment that offers a fairly elaborate tapas menu, with careful presentation and quality products. They have 3 places in the city where you can have a good vermouth and enjoy some good tapas with a very varied offer, for all tastes.

La Massana Winery

Carrer Horta, 1

A winery that perfectly maintains the traditional essence of this type of places. A little further from the center and tourists, in the Horta neighborhood, but well worth a visit. Combine the sale of bulk wine with catering. They specialize in cheeses, sausages and coca bread sandwiches, but they also have the classic preserved appetizers. An ideal place to immerse yourself in the most traditional winery atmosphere, with a lot of history, but with little Internet connection, yes, as they say "we don't have Wi-Fi, but we have vermouth."

Tano Vermouth

Carrer de Joan Blanques, 17

This vermutería, clearly, could be classified within the group of traditional ones. It is a small but well-used place in the center of the Gràcia neighborhood. An ideal place to accompany some cans of preserves with an excellent vermouth and where there is never a shortage of the classic Torres potato chips, a classic in traditional Catalan bars.
